Mark Few and Gonzaga have landed a key transfer, late in this summer’s transfer window.
Former Florida and Princeton guard Xaivian Lee is headed west to play for the Bulldogs, he announced on Instagram.
Lee, who’s one of the many players in college basketball seeking a fifth year of eligibility, was a heavily-recruited transfer in the 2025 cycle, ultimately choosing to play for Todd Golden and the Gators last season.
Following his three-year career at Princeton, Lee appeared and started in 35 games for the Gators, averaging 11.6 points, 3.7 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game and helping the program reach the round of 32 of the NCAA Tournament.
The shooting guard position has been a highly sought after one for Few and the rest of Gonzaga’s staff, with Lee set to the fill the void left by German guard Jack Kayil, who was drafted by the New York Knicks and later signed a five-year deal with ALBA Berlin where he’ll play as a draft-and-stash prospect.
Lee has played in just about as many games as anyone in the transfer market, having made 126 appearances across his four-year collegiate career.
The native of Canada graduated from the Perkiomen School (PA) in 2022 and is just one of the slew of players in the class of 2022 currently seeking a fifth year of collegiate eligibility.
Lee spent this past summer playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Summer League, tallying 6.4 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game for the team.
He’s apart of a preliminary injunction in the state of California that granted players eligibility, so as of today (August 26), Lee remains eligible for a fifth year.
The Toronto product is Gonzaga’s eighth addition of the offseason and its sixth in the transfer portal.
Lee’s fellow newcomers headed into the 2026-27 season include four-star guard Luca Foster, four-star forward Sam Funches, Dayton transfer Javon Bennett, Florida State transfer Chauncey Wiggins, Saint Francis (PA) transfer Skylar Wicks, Arizona State transfer Massamba Diop and Houston transfer Isiah Harwell.
