Four-star shooting guard Marlon Martinez is headed north to play for Shaka Smart at Marquette, On3’s Joe Tipton first reported on Friday.
Martinez, who’s a native of the Dominican Republic, chose the Golden Eagles over South Carolina, Rutgers, Illinois, Mississippi State and Ohio State, among others.
The Dominican sharpshooter took an official visit to Milwaukee to visit Marquette on July 21, which led to his commitment just 17 days later.
At the 2026 FIBA U18 AmeriCup, Martinez appeared in six games for the Dominican national team, where he averaged 19.0 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game and also shooting 48% from long-range for his homeland. The Dominican Republic ultimately finished in seventh place in the tournament.
A rising senior at The Academy of Central Florida, Martinez will finish his senior year before heading to the Big East to play for the Golden Eagles.
In 247Sports’ class of 2027 rankings, Martinez is ranked as the No. 119 overall prospect in his class and as a four-star recruit.
