As the transfer frenzy continues throughout an eventful off-season, Spire Academy (Oh.) continued to re-tool its roster with high end talent.
On Wednesday, it was announced that 6-foot-8 ahead of his time five star wing David Johnson would prolong his career at the national superpower under Kevin Boyle.
Known for his dazzling displays of above-rim athleticism, the Class of 2029 Johnson erupted during a noteworthy summer with the New York Lightning on the EYBL circuit.
The rising sophomore and transfer via Oak Hill (VA) opened up a deft perimeter touch, making a set shot one of the finer points of his hardwood trade.
Beyond his immeasurable intangibles as a ferocious vertical athlete possessing a burgeoning three-level scoring prowess, Johnson improved as a rim protecting presence with defensive versatility this summer.
He was recently offered by Providence, just weeks after Bryan Hodgson was named head coach. He holds additional offers from Virginia Tech, Syracuse, and Texas A & M.
Johnson is the latest addition to a roster which has bolstered its backcourt with the recent acquisition of five star 2027 guard Micah Gordon.
A dynamic 5-foot-11 guard buoyed by blurrish quickness and a stellar downhill game, Gordon recently played before UConn head coach Danny Hurley while submitting a 24-point performance during Peach Jam.
Johnson should play a prominent role alongside Gordon and highly coveted guard King Gibson.
