COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — To say DeMarcus Henry’s recruitment has taken off would be an understatement.

Henry, a Class of 2027 uber-athletic small forward from AZ Compass Prep, has recently added offers from Alabama, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, North Carolina, Arkansas, UConn, Gonzaga, and Kansas.

“It’s a great feeling. All glory to God,” Henry told ZAGSBLOG exclusively Friday at the USA Basketball U18 mini-camp. “I’ve been working since I was a kid to be able to get these opportunities and I’m very grateful.”

The 6-foot-7 Henry is the son of late NFL player Chris Henry and the younger brother of Chris Henry Jr., a top wide receiver recruit in the Class of 2026. Chris Jr has been advising DeMarcus on his recruitment as well.

“He said do what’s best for you and whatever the best fit for your future,” DeMarcus said. “So, I’m just to going to take my time [with the recruiting process] to get the best situation.”

On Friday night here, North Carolina head coach Michael Malone and assistant Sean May were sitting courtside and Henry took notice and was appreciative of their attendance.

“For sure [I think they’re prioritizing me],” he said. “Them being here means a lot to come support and see the high-level competition.”

Henry has taken unofficials to Ohio State and BYU so far. While there are no leaders currently, he sees himself taking a lot of official visits.

“Definitely, there’s a whole bunch…UNC is in there,” he said.

Henry also grew up in the Tar Heel state rooting for both Duke and North Carolina.

“I grew up in North Carolina, so UNC and Duke were my dream schools growing up,” he said. “And It’s a blessing that UNC offered. I’m very grateful.”

Henry tries to emulate Paul George and Kevin Durant on offense and be high-energy on defense. The soon to be high school senior is thrilled to be in Colorado Springs and hopes to represent his country.

“This camp is amazing,” he said. “I’m grateful for the opportunity. I’m just blessed to be here and represent my country and get a chance to make the USA team.”
