Four-star guard Javon Bardwell is headed to Providence to play for new head coach Bryan Hodgson, On3’s Joe Tipton reported on Sunday.
Originally committed to Kansas as a member of the class of 2027, Bardwell announced his intentions to reopen his recruitment and reclassify to the class of 2026 on August 12th, 10months after committing to the Jayhawks.
Since de-committing from Kansas, Bardwell became a target for many programs looking for a late roster boost headed into the 2026-27 season. He was also recruited heavily by USC, Louisville and Texas throughout his recruiting process.
At 6-foot-6, Bardwell will join the Friars and help bolster their front court, with the eligibility of former G-League guard Dink Pate still unknown.
The Friars will now welcome 11 newcomers this summer.
In addition to the commitment of Bardwell, Providence has also landed former G-League guard Dink Pate, three-star forward Clyde Walters, UNLV transfer Jacob Bannarbie, Georgetown transfer Malik Mack, Northwestern transfer Arrinten Page, Yale transfer Samson Aletan, Buffalo transfer Ryan Sabol, Florida Atlantic transfer Devin VanterPool, South Florida transfer Gavin Hightower and San Diego State transfer Myles Byrd.
