North Carolina has added 7-foot South Dakota transfer Cameron Fens, according to reports.
Fens, who’s a product of Dubuque, IA, spent two seasons at South Dakota and two prior seasons playing at UIC, throughout his college career.
Across four seasons at the two programs, the 7-foot Iowan has appeared 103 games in college, starting in 63 of them.
Last season at South Dakota in which he appeared in 32 games, Fens averaged 14.4 points and 8.7 rebounds per game, while shooting nearly 58% from the field.
Heading to Chapel Hill to exercise his fifth year of eligibility, Fens is the latest beneficiary of the recent injunction granting members of the high school class of 2022 a fifth year of eligibility.
Fens will head to North Carolina to play for brand-new head coach Michael Malone, who was hired in April following the departure of long-time Tar Heel Hubert Davis.
In addition to the commitment of Fens, the Tar Heels are also set to add four-star forward Maximo Adams, four-star forward Kevin Thomas, Spanish center Sayon Keita, class of 2026 guard Malloy Smith, Greek forward Alexandros Samodurov, Buffalo transfer Angelo Brizzi, Northwestern transfer Cade Bennerman, NC State transfer Matt Able, Utah transfer Terrence Brown and Virginia Tech transfer Neoklis Avdalas.
