Four-star guard Kamari Whyte is headed to play for Scott Cross at Georgia Tech, On3’s Joe Tipton first reported on Tuesday.
Whyte, who’s a 6-foot-5 shooting guard entering his senior season at Blair Academy (NJ), chose the Yellowjackets over schools like Marquette, Villanova and Virginia Tech, among others.
He took his official visit to Georgia Tech on June 29th and just 36 days later, the rising senior announced his intentions to head to Atlanta.
Whyte spent his summer playing for the New Heights Lightning on the Nike EYBL circuit, coming fresh off being named Gatorade Vermont Player of the Year while playing for Vermont Academy.
Dating back to Whyte’s early high-school career at St. Raymond’s (NY), he was teammates with former Georgia Tech guard Brandon Stores Jr., who is also the high school’s all-time leading scorer.
Whyte is Georgia Tech’s first commit in the class of 2027, kickstarting Cross’ second high-school recruiting class with the Yellowjackets.
According to 247Sports, Whyte is rated as a four-star recruit and ranked as the No. 94 overall recruit in the class of 2027.
