The Utah Jazz made the expected pick in last month’s NBA Draft, when it selected Kansas’ Darryn Peterson at No. 2, following BYU’s AJ Dybantsa being selected with the top pick.

Battling through an injury-riddled freshman season at Kansas, Peterson dealt with a plethora of health issues, including cramping, quad and hamstring injuries, that all sidelined him for a portion of the season.

During his media availability at the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, Peterson said he “wasn’t experiencing” much fun at Kansas this past season.

“I’m back having fun. I wasn’t really experiencing it that much at Kansas,” said Peterson. “I was off [the ball] a ton. … I feel like myself again. Being on the ball, that’s what comes with it – being double teamed.”

In his Las Vegas Summer League debut for the Jazz, Peterson tallied 24 points, three rebounds and three assists on six-of-18 shooting.

Over the course of his freshman season with the Jayhawks, Peterson missed 11 games due to his injuries, but through a few summer league games, appears to have returned to being fully healthy.
