Now at 6-foot-8, Class of 2028 PSA Cardinals and Holy Cross HS (NY) forward Payton Wilson is tracking as one of the most versatile and workmanlike recruits available.
This past week, Wilson added offers from Seton Hall and Alabama-Birmingham to a handful of potential suitors.
Vaccuming rebounds on the offensive end and defensive end, showing an advanced feel for the game between the ears, and displaying a smooth set shot which he’s extended beyond the arc, Wilson prospered as an inside-outside threat at Holy Cross this past season.
“Payton has been one of the most consistent forwards in the country this spring/summer,” said PSA Cardinals head honcho Terrance “Munch” Williams.
“With his production on the boards, blocking shots, and scoring, he’s positioned himself to be one of the top players in class. The offers are rolling in and I don’t expect them to stop anytime soon. We look forward to him finishing the grassroots season strong and dominating his high school season at Holy Cross.”
The long armed Wilson scored 16 points, yanked in eight boards and doled out five assists during a CHSAA “AA” quarterfinal win over St. Raymond’s, a performance emblematic NYC native’s multi-faceted approach.
Wilson gathered a handful of double doubles during the season, including a 24-point, 14-board showing during a win over Christ The King back on Jan. 12.
