MEMPHIS–Playing up a level once again, Class of 2028 point guard Michai White continues to put up consistent, gaudy numbers across the EYBL landscape.
Just a few weeks after erupting for 36 points (12-for-18 FG) and doling out five assist in the City Rocks’ victory over AB Elite in Session I, White played with poise and a well-rounded two-way presence in Session II.
He scored 16 points to go with four boards and two steals against JL 3.
With the first official day of the live period, June 15th, right around the corner, White is hearing from an array of high major programs.
He has picked up offers from Providence, Virginia and Maryland and is receiving interest from many others.
“Recently, I started hearing from Houston, DePaul, Butler, and Illinois,” said White, who spent his sophomore season at traditional national superpower Brewster Academy (NH).
“I’ve been hearing from Providence, Oklahoma State, Northwestern, Louisville, Auburn. They’ve been consistent in communicating with my Dad. With June 15th coming up, I’m looking forward to speaking with the coaches directly.”
White on Auburn
“(Assistant) coach Ira Bowman, he is also a Jersey guy. Since Steven (Pearl) got the head coaching job, he has been building the relationship with my Dad. Both Ira and coach Pearl have been building the relationship since they first offered me following Peach Jam.
“I really like the way Auburn plays. They play fast, they really let their guards rock out and give them the freedom to play their game. That was the case with Bruce Pearl’s teams as well. They have a tendency of letting their guards play. They are constantly in the tournament, they were in the national championship two years ago. I like what they have to offer.”
On Oklahoma State: “Its been good establishing a relationship with them. I’ve gotten to know about them through my (former) head coach at Brewster, Jason Smith (now at Masters International). They are another great guard program. They play really hard. They play fast. What intrigues me is how they play defense. On the other end, you have to sit down defensively and they do a great job of this.
Louisville: “Coach Pat (Kelsey) is really getting it rolling out there. They are really moving the needle, getting things done quickly.
They have always been a powerhouse. They’ve had great guards with Donovan Mitchell and more recently, Mikel Brown.
Villanova: “Winning and sending people to the NBA has been a pattern there. Right now, I’m watching Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, and Mikal Bridges with the Knicks. All of those guys played there and had success there.
Again, they are another program that develops guards. Acaden Lewis had a great year for them as a freshman this past season.
Ash Howard has been consistent with keeping up with me. We appreciate that.”
