Kansas has officially signed Class of 2026 forward Atticus Richmond.
Richmond, a 6-foot-8 senior from The Newman School (MA), was previously committed to Columbia but will now head to play for Bill Self and the Jayhawks next season.
“Atticus is a youngster that has great size,” head coach Bill Self said. “He has some perimeter skills but mainly plays inside and will add depth to our big man positions. He’s been extremely well coached and well drilled. I look at him as a Mitch Lightfoot type when Mitch was coming to us out of high school.”
Originally from the Chicago area, Richmond comes from a family with a long line of ties to Kansas, as his father, cousins, grandfather and now his brother are are all currently enrolled or alumni of the university.
Besides Columbia and Kansas, Richmond also recruited heavily by Lehigh throughout his recruitment.
In addition to landing Richmond, Self and the Jayhawks have ten additional newcomers this offseason.
That list includes Charleston transfer Christian Reeves, Utah transfer Keanu Dawes, Toledo transfer Leroy Blyden Jr., Radford transfer Dennis Parker Jr., five-star Tyran Stokes, five-star Taylen Kinney, four-star Davion Adkins, four-star Trent Perry, four-star Luke Barnett and 6-foot-10 center Grant Mordini.
