Tennessee has landed its fifth transfer of the transfer portal cycle, with VCU transfer Terrence Hill Jr. announcing his commitment to the Volunteers. Hill is a 6-foot-3 guard originally from Oregon and was originally committed to Utah State in high school before de-committing following the departure of former Aggies head coach Danny Sprinkle.

Having just wrapped up his sophomore season at VCU where he averaged 15.0 points and 2.8 assists per game in 36 appearances for the Rams, Hill served primarily as the sixth man for VCU, leading the team in scoring and playing a main role in its upset win over North Carolina in the NCAA Tournament.

In the Rams’ overtime win over North Carolina, he tallied 34 points, five rebounds and five assists, drilling seven threes and leading the largest comeback in this year’s NCAA Tournament.

He was VCU’s leading scorer in its second-round loss to Illinois as well, recording 17 points and seven rebounds in a blowout loss in Greenville.

Hill is ranked as a top-20 transfer according to 247Sports and will provide immediate scoring and depth in Tennessee’s backcourt next season.

The Volunteers’ fifth addition in the transfer portal, Hill joins a class that also consists of Notre Dame transfer Jalen Haralson, Loyola-Chicago transfer Miles Rubin, California transfer Dai Dai Ames and Belmont transfer Tyler Lundblade.
