New head coach Bryan Hodgson continues to acquire portal pieces to build his roster
On Wednesday, the Friars added commitments from Buffalo transfer Ryan Sabol and Yale graduate transfer Samson Aletan.
The 6-foot-2 Sabol averaged 18.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game on 39.9% shooting from long distance in his junior year for Buffalo.
Sabol’s shooting will be a big help for the Friars, who recently lost one of their best shooters in Stefan Vaaks to the transfer portal.
The 6-10 Aletan averaged 7.8 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.4 blocks while shooting 58% last year at Yale.

The duo joins former Westchester Knicks guard Dink Pate and transfers Miles Byrd, Gavin Hightower and Devin Vanterpool as a part of Hodgson’s first recruiting class as the head coach at Providence. The Friars are hoping to have a bounce back year after a difficult season that led to Kim English getting fired.
