A freshman has been named the AP National Player of the Year for the fifth time.

Duke big man Cam Boozer joins Zion Williamson, Cooper Flagg, Kevin Durant and Anthony Davis as the only freshmen to receive the AP National Player of the Year honor.

He is also one of nine Blue Devils to win the award, the most of any program in the award’s history.

The freshman forward led Duke in scoring, rebounding and assists, averaging 22.5 points, 10.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game while shooting 55.6% from the field.

Boozer was a model of consistency for Duke as the program had yet another strong year. The Blue Devils only lost three games all season as thr freshman led the nation with 22 double-doubles. Boozer will be in contention to be the No. 1 pick of the 2026 NBA Draft.
