BYU’s AJ Dybantsa not settled on his future: ‘I might not leave college’

BY ALEJANDRO LOPEZ

When there is a freshman as renowned as BYU”s AJ Dybantsa the assumption is always that he will head to the NBA after his first year of college. But according to Dybantsa, that decision has not been made.

“I might not leave college,” Dybantsa said, per the Deseret News. “I’ve just got to get to the end of the season…my mom wants me to graduate.”

“I might not leave college”

The projected No. 1 NBA draft pick, @AJ_Dybantsa, just dropped a bombshell on “Deseret Voices.” What’s behind him weighing a return to Provo for another season?

Last year’s freshman phenom Cooper Flagg also said at one point he wanted to return to Duke before he inevitably entered the NBA Draft.

Of course, almost a year after Cooper Flagg’s last game at Duke he is amongst the best rookies in the NBA.

In all likelihood Dybantsa will enter the 2026 NBA Draft. But things have not been made official just yet.
