Tensions were high early in an SEC matchup between No. 18 Georgia and Florida on Tuesday.

Georgia center Somto Cyril was ejected from the game after a physical altercation with Florida center Rueben Chinyelu.

The contact above the shoulder along with the intent on a non-basketball play provided the referees with more than enough evidence to disqualify Cyril.

Georgia has been one of the hottest teams in the country, starting the season with a 13-1 record. But their momentum was put in check by the defending national champions who, while 9-5, have shown flashes of the team that won it all last spring.

The Gators comfortably defeated the Bulldogs 92-77 to give Georgia its second loss of the season.

As the team’s starting center, losing Cyril after less than 10 minutes of game time was a big blow to the Bulldogs gameplan. They’ll look to bounce back on Saturday against South Carolina.
