Typically, high-volume guards at the AAU level struggle with efficiency, but class of 2026 standout point guard Neiko Mundey broke the mold with his exceptional performance on the Adidas 3SSB circuit this summer.
Mundey, the 6-foot-3 guard out of Prince George’s Christian Academy (MD) and the New World AAU program — ranked top-five in 3SSB scoring at 21.7 points per game — but he also shot 49.4% from the field and 50-of-112 (44.6%) from 3-point range, numbers that really jump off the page. It’s especially impressive considering Mundey’s volume and usage rate.
During the last session of the summer, Mundey had a 41 point game against Open Gym Premier. He’s one of the best bucket getters in the 2026 class, and what really stands out is how high he rises up with his jump shot. He really elevates and still gets it off quickly. Mundey is shifty too and uses his elite handle to get to his mid-range pull-up or to the basket. The guard attempted 117 free throws across 18 games.
Defensively, Mundey is a pest and uses his the energy he gains from that end to fuel his offense. He averaged 1.2 steals and grabbed 3.0 rebounds per game. At the 3SSB championships, Mundey led New World to fourth place with wins over undefeated BABC and five-star laden Compton Magic. He’s often the most outspoken player on the court.
“I’m a killer,” Mundey said. “I can do it all. I can get downhill. I can shoot. I play defense. I’m real scrappy. I’m a do-it-all type of point guard. Even if I’m not making shots and the game’s not going my way, I know I can always pick it up on the defensive end and get me a steal and a layup.”
Recently, Mundey narrowed his options to eight schools and will be considering the following programs moving forward: Auburn, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, Pitt, Texas, Texas A&M, USC, and Washington. He’s scheduled official visits to Pitt (Aug. 28) Oklahoma State (Sept. 20), Mississippi State (Sept. 28), USC (Oct. 2) and Texas (Oct. 18).
Mundey broke down a few of these schools to ZAGSBLOG in Rock Hill:
Mississippi State: “They like to get it out fast-paced. They’re one of the fastest playing teams in the SEC. So that’s great. I like to get out and transition and run, so I like that.”
Pitt: “Jeff [Capel] loves his guards. He feels like I can be a complete guard from the DMV like he’s had before. So I feel like Jeff loves me a lot.”
Oklahoma State: “They get at it at the defensive end. They have a free offense, so they don’t really run a lot of sets, but they let the ball work on the offensive end.”
Mundey is ranked the No. 50 overall prospect in the 2026 class by 247Sports.
