Villanova has officially signed four transfer portal additions.
Long Beach State transfer Devin Askew, Temple transfer Zion Stanford and Grand Canyon transfers Duke Brennan and Malcolm Flaggs have all signed financial aid agreements, the team announced on Friday.
Askew is a 6-4 guard who averaged 18.9 points and 4.5 assists per game with the 49ers. He has also played for the University of California and Kentucky.
“Devin is a talented and experienced guard that gives us versatility both on and off the ball as well as veteran leadership,” head coach Kevin Willard said in a statement. “Devin has played for some great coaches in his college career so he understands what it takes to compete at the highest level in big-time college basketball.”
Brennan is a 6-10 forward who averaged 10.9 points and 9.2 rebounds per game for Grand Canyon. He began his college career at Arizona State University.
“Our staff is truly looking forward to working with Big Duke,” Willard said. “He’s a hard-working, physical player that will go above and beyond for his team to win. He lives in the gym and none of us are surprised that’s he’s been a big winner throughout his career. We’re extremely happy that Duke is now a Villanova Wildcat.”
Flaggs is a 6-6 guard who last played 11 games in the 2023-24 season for Grand Canyon. The Arizona native played high school basketball in the same high school as Brennan and also began his collegiate career at Arizona State.
“Malcolm is a high basketball IQ wing shooter that is now healthy after being slowed by injuries the past few seasons,” Willard stated. “He’s back healthier than ever and ready to help our team.”
Stanford is a 6-6 guard who averaged 13.1 points and 4.5 rebounds per game in his sophomore season with the Owls. He shot 35% from long distance at Temple last season and was named to the American Athletic Conference All-Freshman team in the 2023-24 season.
“Zion is a multi-positional player who can play anywhere on the court,” Willard said. “As a big, physical guard, he is a mismatch nightmare. He can post smaller guards and beat bigger guards off the dribble with his quickness. We are super excited to work with Zion as he joins the Villanova family.”
Villanova’s transfer portal class also includes Maryland transfers Malachi Palmer and Braden Pierce, and JMU transfer Bryce Lindsay,
