Iowa transfer Ladji Dembele is headed to UNLV, he told ZAGSBLOG.

“My brother lives there and I’m going to be closer to him,” Dembele said.

The 6-foot-8 sophomore forward from Newark, N.J. started 21 of 33 games last season, averaging 16.7 minutes per contest.. He averaged 4.5 points and 3.5 rebounds, while shooting 46.7 % (57-of-122) from the floor and 38.2% (13-of-34) from 3-point range. He reached double-figures in four games and had 8+ points in seven contests.

In November 2022, Dembele chose Iowa over Wake Forest and Rutgers after previously considering others including Seton Hall, DePaul and Pitt.

Dembele joins Illinois sophomore transfer Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn at UNLV.

The 6-foot-1-inch guard averaged 5.9 points, 1.6 rebounds and 0.5 assists over 35 games with two starts this season.
