Butler has officially signed former Gonzaga guard Michael Ajayi following his commitment on Monday.

Ajayi — the 6-foot-7, 228-pound guard from Kent (WA) — averaged 6.5 points and 5.4 rebounds per game for Gonzaga in 2024-25. He started in 13 of 34 games and shot 44.6% from the field and 8-of-44 (18.2%) from 3-point range.

“These past two seasons have showcased Michael’s all-around game and potential,” said Butler coach Thad Matta. “Michael led the WCC in scoring during his season at Pepperdine, and contributed to a high level of winning with a physical, defensive presence last season at Gonzaga. His impact on both ends of the court is a major addition to our roster for the upcoming season. Michael is a high-character individual who is going to be a great fit at Butler.”

Previously, Ajayi was a standout at Pepperdine, leading the team in scoring and becoming a WCC First Team All-Conference player before transferring to Gonzaga. For his two-year career, Ajayi has averaged 11.8 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game.

Ajayi is the third portal pickup for Butler this offseason, joining Jalen Jackson and Yame Butler.
