Dennis Gates has been on a roll recruiting at Missouri. With a top-10 high school class already coming in, Gates is now adding through the portal, and his first acquisition is a big one in former Iowa guard Tony Perkins.

Perkins, the 6-foot-4, 205-pound transfer guard, announced his commitment to Missouri via Instagram.

The former Iowa guard averaged 14.4 points, 4.6 assists and 4.4 rebounds per game last season for the Hawkeyes. In his total four-year career, Perkins has averaged 9.3 points, 2.5 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game in 22.3 minutes. He’s started every game for Iowa the past two years while shooting 43.6% from the field and 31.5% from 3-point range.

Perkins was a three-star prospect coming out of high school. He attended Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis.

Missouri has two portal commits this cycle in Perkins and UT Martin transfer power forward Jacob Crews. Two Missouri players — power forward Jesús Carralero Martin and shooting guard Curt Lewis — are in the portal currently.
