Kevin Willard is on a roll in the transfer portal, picking up his second commitment in three days. This time, coveted Belmont transfer point guard Ja’Kobi Gillespie has pledged to the Terrapins.

Gillespie, the 6-foot-1, 180-pound guard from Greeneville (TN), comes to Maryland with two years of experience at Belmont. Gillespie landed on the Missouri Valley Conference All-Freshman Team in year one and then took a huge jump his sophomore season, averaging 17.2 points per game. He also added 4.2 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game while shooting 56.1% from the field and 38.7% from 3.

Gillespie will join Maryland’s other 2024 transfer portal addition next season in Virginia Tech transfer guard Rodney Rice.

Gillespie has two seasons of eligibility remaining. He will be a huge piece for the Terrapins next season.
