The NCAA has confirmed the immediate eligibility of Louisville freshman guard Ty-Laur Johnson, per release.

Johnson – the 6-foot, 160-pound guard from Our Saviour Lutheran School (NY) — was ranked as a four-star prospect coming out of high school. At Our Saviour Lutheran, Johnson averaged 18.4 points, 5.7 assists and 2.5 steals while playing in the Overtime Elite League.

He committed to Louisville in May after decommitting from Memphis in April.

Louisville will kick off the season by hosting its annual Red and White scrimmage. The event is set for 7 p.m. ET on Oct. 11 at the KFC Yum! Center. The Cardinals first regular season game will be against UMBC on Nov. 6.

Second-year head coach Kenny Payne and Louisville are looking to rebound from a 4-28 season in 2022-23.
