Maryland lands New Mexico State transfer Mady Traore
by SAM LANCE
New Mexico State transfer center Mady Traore will be returning to the DMV, as he announced his commitment to Kevin Willard and Maryland on Tuesday.
Traore, the 6-foot-11, 220-pound center, is originally from Fresnes, France. However, he attended high school at the National Christian Academy in Cumberland (MD).
The big man played just seven games for New Mexico State in his freshman season. Traore scored a total of nine points and shot 4-of-7 from the field. His best game was a five-point, two-rebound performance against Stephen F. Austin. Traore didn’t miss a shot, including a 3-pointer, and recorded a block in his 11 minutes on the floor.
Traore was considered a three-star prospect by 247Sports coming out of high school. He ranked as the No. 237 overall player, No. 33 overall center and No. 6 player in Maryland in the 2022 class.
Willard has picked up two other prospects from the portal this offseason including former Indiana small forward Jordan Geronimo and former Loyola Marymount guard Chance Stephens.
