Former Texas Tech small forward Jaylon Tyson has found a new home at California. He announced his commitment to Mark Fox and the Golden Bears via Instagram.

Tyson, the 6-foot-6, 210-pound small forward, is transferring for the second time. He started his career at Texas, playing in eight games in 2021-22 for the Longhorns. Last season as a Red Raider, Tyson posted averages of 10.7 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. He also shot 48.3% from the field and 40.2% from 3.

The Plano (TX) native was a four-star recruit coming out of high school and ranked the No. 36 overall player in the class of 2021 by 247Sports. He will have three years of eligibility to utilize at Cal.

Fox has been busy in the transfer portal this offseason. Tyson will join several other transfer at Cal next year, including another former Red Raider in center Fardaws Aimaq, as well as former NAU guard Jalen Cone, former Memphis guard Keonte Kennedy and former Portland guard Mike Meadows.

The Golden Bears are looking to rebound from a three win season last year. Grabbing Tyson, the No. 7 ranked transfer by Evan Miya, is a good step in the right direction.
