Former St. John’s guard Rafael Pinzon is transferring to Bryant, he told ZAGSBLOG.

“I could see Coach [Jared] Grasso and his coaching staff are honest, competitive and hungry,” he said.”I will do everything the team needs from me to win and go to the NCAA Tournament.”

The Puerto Rican native is one of eight St. John’s players to transfer out of the program as Rick Pitino continues to overhaul his roster just one week in.

Pinzon averaged 6.1 points per game on 42.1% shooting last season for the Johnnies.

The 6-foot-6 guard originally committed to St. John’s over Florida and New Mexico back in 2020, but chooses once again to stay on the East Coast at Bryant.

“He’s a high-IQ guard who can fill it up from all three levels at 6-foot-6,” said NY Jayhawks director Jay David when he chose St. Johns. “He’s great defensively and can guard 1-3.”

Pinzon will have at least two years of eligibility remaining. He is the lone newcomer for Bryant thus far.

“Rafael is a big-game player,” Long Island Lutheran head coach John Buck said. “He steps up when the lights are the brightest. He’s a talented playmaker, scorer, and defender.”
