Class of 2024 five-star shooting guard, Ian Jackson, dismissed rumors he may be flipping his commitment from North Carolina to Rick Pitino and St. John’s.

“The rumors are not true,” Jackson said to 247Sports. “Coach Pitino is at St. John’s and is a Hall of Fame coach, but my plan is to stay at North Carolina. I’m 100% committed.”

Jackson, the 6-foot-4, 185-pound guard from Cardinal Hayes (NY) and the Wiz Kids AAU program, is ranked the No. 5 overall prospect in the class of 2024 by 247Sports.

He is committed to the Tar Heels along with three other prospects in the class of 2024: point guard Elliot Cadeau, small forward Drake Powell and center James Brown. Each of those prospects are the in top 50 of 247Sports’ class of 2024 rankings.

Jackson was a candidate to reclassify up to the class of 2023, but he told 247Sports that right now that is not the plan.

“The plan is to have one more year at Cardinal Hayes,” Jackson said to 247Sports. “In my senior year my main thing is just seeing how much I can grow before college. I want to improve the small little things, grow as a player, grow mentally, and dominate defensively.”
