Houston is back in the No. 1 spot in this week’s AP Poll after both Alabama and Purdue fell last week.

The Cougars thwarted a potential tournament team in Memphis on Sunday to reclaim their spot while Alabama lost to Tennessee midweek and Purdue dropped a road game to Maryland.

Northwestern, another team that has taken down the Boilermakers this season, made their debut in the poll at No. 21 for the first time since 2020.

Texas A&M also checks into the poll for the first time this season at No. 25 as the Aggies sit just one game back of first-place Alabama in the SEC standings.

The Big 12 remains king in this week’s poll as they have done almost all year with six ranked teams: Kansas (No. 3), Texas (8), Baylor (9), Kansas State (14), Iowa State (23), TCU (24).

Big East once again follows this season’s trend, coming in second with five ranked teams: Marquette (No. 10), Xavier (16), UConn (18), Creighton (19), Providence (20),
