Hubert Davis and North Carolina continued their recruiting momentum Monday with the addition of Class of 2024 Chicago (IL) St. Rita big man James Brown.

The 6-foot-9 four-star is ranked the No. 6 center int he Class of 2024 per 247Sports.com and also considered Illinois, Michigan State, Missouri and others.

“Ultimately I chose North Carolina because of the relationship that I was able to build with Coach (Hubert) Davis and Coach (Sean) May,” Brown told On3. “After watching many North Carolina games this season and last season, and seeing the way Coach Davis displays his emotions and puts it all out there for his players is something that really resonated with me.”

Ask for what type of player the Tar Heels are getting, he added:

“North Carolina is getting a high character, high integrity, passionate player looking to contribute as much as possible to help North Carolina continue its historic reputation.”

Brown is the second 2024 commit for North Carolina after Link Prep (MO) point guard Elliot Cadeau committed last week.

“James’s skillset continues to blossom,” said St. Rita assistant Roshawn Russell. “He has excellent footwork, [is an] improved shooter and has a very high IQ. His best basketball is ahead of him.”
