Amid reports that Maryland is targeting Rick Pitino as its next coach, the Naismith Hall of Famer shot down those rumblings on Thursday.

As I Tweeted out Wednesday, Pitino is quite happy at Iona where he lives nearby on the Winged Foot Golf Club.

Iona is working on a lifetime deal for him as we previously reported.

Among other names in the mix at Maryland are Seton Hall’s Kevin Willard, USC’s Andy Enfield and George Mason coach Kim English.

Both Pitino and Villanova’s Jay Wright have raved about Willard, as I wrote over on NJ.com.
