Virginia on Monday landed a pledge from East Carolina transfer Jayden Gardner.

The 6-foot-7 Gardner averaged 18.3 points and 8.3 rebounds as a junior at ECU and 19.7 points and 9.2 rebounds as a sophomore.

He also considered N.C. State, LSU, Arkansas and Miami.

“We have a great relationship and I know how much they like me and how much I like them,” Gardner told 247Sports.com of UVA. “I like how they play a pack line defense and as a player who needs to learn and get better on defense that’s a good opportunity. I can progress to the next level on both ends of the court and its exciting opportunity to add to that aspect of my game.”
