Sean Durugordon made up his mind on Sunday where he wanted to play college ball.

The 6-foot-7, 216-pound Class of 2021 small forward from Putnam Science (CT) Academy decided to commit to Missouri, he told ZAGSBLOG ahead of his public announcement Wednesday. In late September, Durugordon said he planned to enroll at Missouri in January.

Ranked the No. 48 small forward in the 247Sports.com composite, he also considered Georgia, Auburn, DePaul, Arizona State, Seton Hall, VCU and Hofstra. Durugordon is a native of Queens, N.Y. who currently lives on Long Island.

“I just felt like I built the best relationship with the head coach [Cuonzo Martin],” he said. “We really had a good connection and a bond. We talked a lot over the last month, so a trust was built. I just feel like also he will be able to take my game to the next level because he’s coached guys that are in the NBA and he’s also played in the NBA himself so I know he knows what it takes to get there.

“Just how they have a team-first type of mentality, the family culture there. Their play style fits my game perfectly so it was honestly just the perfect fit.”

Durugordon is Mizzou’s third 2021 commit, joining point guards Anton Brookshire and Kaleb Brown.

“They’ll have me playing from the 2-4, they think I’m really versatile so I’ll be able to play a lot of positions,” he said. “They think I can come in as a freshman and possibly start. Of course, if I work for it but they say the opportunity is there. They see me as someone who can do everything on the floor, can shoot it, can drive it, can create. So they plan on using me in a lot of different places on the floor.”

Durugordon is currently at home on Long Island and returns to Putnam Science on Saturday. He will then quarantine for two weeks before beginning in-person classes Sept. 14.
