Kihei Clark, the 5-foot-9 point guard from William Howard Taft (CA) Charter High School, committed to Virginia on Monday

“He just thinks Tony [Bennett’s] style is the perfect fit for him,” Taft coach Derrick Taylor told Scout. His commitment comes the same day that he received an offer from Virginia.. “He really, really was blown away with his visit with Tony and talking basket with him. Tony isn’t afraid to play small guards, like London Perrantes.”

Clark, who decommitted from UC-Davis in August, is ranked the No. 388  player in the Class of 2018 per 247Sports.com and the No. 46 player from the state of California. He joins shooting guard Kody Stattman as the second commit in the Cavaliers 2018 class.

Clark was named MVP of the Peach Jam final, where he went for 18 points, 3 assists and one steal to lead the Oakland Soldiers to the ttile.

“His IQ is off the charts,” Taylor said. “He’s going to run the team and he understands his role and gets everybody the ball. He’s also slick and crafty and he shoots it well enough. He can hold everything together and will defend like there’s no tomorrow.”

UCLA and Virginia had home visits with him last week. As a junior last year, Clark averaged 18.1 points and 7.5 assists.
