  • PHILADELPHIA — Jahvon Quinerly made his debut at the Under Armour All-America Camp on Thursday after an ankle injury kept him off the court Wednesday.

The 6-foot-3 point guard from Sports U and Hudson Catholic played in front of Kansas’ Bill Self and Norm Roberts, Villanova’s Jay Wright, Virginia’s Tony Bennett , Stanford’s Jerod Haase and assistants from Arizona, UCLA and Seton Hall.

“Honestly, I feel like every one of my seven schools is working hard right now,” Quinerly told me after the game.

Quinerly has so far taken one official, to Arizona, and is planning officials to Kansas (August) and UCLA (October). The Kansas visit will likely happen with his Sports U teammate Naz Reid, although Reid mentioned potential visits to the two schools in September.

PHILADELPHIA — Scottie Lewis and Bryan Antoine were on opposite teams on Wednesday night at Philadelphia University.

On this night, the 6-foot-5 Lewis got the better of his Ranney School and Team Rio teammate by burying a game-winning three-pointer in the final seconds for a 61-58 victory at the Under Armour All-America Camp. They estimated the last time they played against one another in a competitive game was in seventh grade.

“It’s always fun to play against Bryan,” Lewis said with his trademark smile. “He’s one of those guys that is true competition because we know each other’s games so well.”

The shot came in front of a Who’s Who of head and assistant coaches, including Kentucky’s John Calipari and Tony Barbee, Kansas’ Bill Self and Norm Roberts, UNC’s Roy Williams and Brad Frederick, Duke’s Jeff Capel and Jon Scheyer, UCLA’s Steve Alford and David Grace, Notre Dame’s Mike Brey, Villanova’s Jay Wright, Louisville’s Kenny Johnson, St. John’s Matt Abdelmassih and many more.

PHILADELPHIA — Naz Reid is here at the Under Armour All-America Camp at Philadelphia University this week but won’t play because of a twisted knee he suffered last week at the Under Armour finals.

“Twisted it in Atlanta,” the 6-foot-10 Class of 2018 big man from Sports U and Roselle (N.J.) Catholic said here Wednesday.

Reid is coming off his first official visit to LSU.

“It was good,” he said. “The school was bigger than I thought it was. There were a lot of interesting things. I saw the football stadium is big, the basketball court is big. The team is very family united, I like that. That’s a big thing. I feel like there’s a lot family-wise going on there.”

He said LSU has been recruiting him for two years but ramped up their interest after Will Wade took the job this spring.
