  • SPRINGFIELD, Mass. —Sid Wilson, the 6-foot-8, 180-pound Class of 2018 wing from Brewster (N.H.) Academy, says five schools are working the hardest for him at the moment.

The New York City native listed UConn, Maryland, Texas, Indiana and Miami as the “top five right now.”

He hasn’t set any visits, but said he’ll “probably visit UConn again when I get a break from school because they’re close.” He has also visited Texas unofficially and plans to visit again this summer.

He broke down his five schools:

Texas: “Just [Shaka Smart’s] message, he’s a great guy. Me and him got a good bond, [also] me and Coach [Jai] Lucas. They are in contact with my family, so they just really care about me as a person.”

NEWARKAngel Delgado backed down Tariq Owens on the block midway through the second half and overpowered him for a soft layup off the glass.

Owens was giving up about 40 pounds to the 6-foot-10, 240-pound Delgado, who over-matched and over-powered Owens and the entire Red Storm front line to the tune of 21 points and 20 rebounds in a 86-73 Pirates’ win at Prudential Center.

It was the Big East’s first 20-20 game since Providence’s Jamine “Greedy” Peterson in 2010. Delgado’s 14th double-double ties him for third nationally.

“It feels great, that was my dream,” said Delgado, adding that he had a 19-point, 19-rebound game as a freshman. “As soon as I came to the school, I say one day I gotta get 20 and 20, and I did it. I feel great right now.”

Mohamed Bamba took his official visit to Kentucky this weekend and was at Rupp Arena for No. 5 Kentucky’s 85-69 win over No. 24 South Carolina on Saturday evening.

Freshman guard Malik Monk went for 27 points in the win, and freshman big man Bam Adebayo added 18. Freshman point guard De’Aaron Fox left the game with an ankle injury and returned in a walking boot and sporting crutches, but head coach John Calipari said after the game he didn’t think it was serious.

Mark Carter, one of Bamba’s coaches with the Nike-sponsored PSA Cardinals, thinks Bamba is a special player who could follow in the footsteps of recent Kentucky bigs Anthony Davis, Boogie Cousins and Karl-Anthony Towns.

“Mohamed has one of the most unique skillsets in the country,” Carter told ZAGSBLOG. “His ridiculous length allows him to be one of the premier defensive players our time has seen. He has made strides continuously on the offensive end. Once he puts it all together, it’s lights out.

Kentucky point guard De’Aaron Fox left Saturday’s game against South Carolina in the first half after sustaining a right ankle injury, but the injury doesn’t appear to be serious.

Fox, who is averaging 16.7 points, 6.3 assists, and 5.0 rebounds per night, came out of the locker room at halftime on crutches and sporting a walking boot. The 6-foot-3 floor general, one of the fastest players in the country, scored 6 points on 3-of-3 shooting in eight minutes of action prior to going down.

“It’s not swelled,” coach John Calipari said about Fox’s injury after the game. “I think it might’ve been a stinger. I don’t know. But something hit his ankle.”

No. 5 Kentucky still rolled to an 85-69 win over No. 24 South Carolina behind 27 points from Malik Monk and 18 from Bam Adebayo.

The Wildcats improved to 7-0 in SEC play with the victory, giving the Gamecocks (15-4 overall, 5-1 SEC) their first league loss in the process.
