  • Big East, ACC Each Place Three Teams in Top 10 of AP Top 25

    The Big East Conference and the Atlantic Coast Conference each placed three teams in the Top 10 of the new AP Top 25 released Monday.

    For the Big East, Villanova (6-0) ranks No. 2, with fellow undefeateds Xavier (6-0) and Creighton (6-0) at Nos. 7 and 10 respectively. Unbeaten Butler (6-0) chimes in at No. 18.

    In the ACC, North Carolina (7-0) is at No. 3, with Duke (6-1) at No. 5 and Virginia (6-0) at No. 6. The ACC also has Louisville at No. 14 and Syracuse at No. 22.

    Kentucky remained No. 1 overall.

    Gonzaga, which beat Iowa State to win the AdvoCare Invitational, slots in at No. 8.

    With wins over Oregon, VCU, Michigan State and Louisville, Baylor ranks at No. 9.

    Fresh off winning the Wooden Legacy championship on Sunday night over Texas A&M, UCLA moved to No. 11 from No. 14.

    Michigan and Michigan State both tumbled out of the poll and received votes.
