CELEBRATION, Fla. – Devon Dotson has made quite the name for himself over the past couple weeks.

The No. 49-ranked player in the class of 2018 by 247 Sports, Dotson most recently picked up an offer from Kansas and head coach Bill Self.

“I just heard that he loved me,” the pass-first point guard told SNY.tv after a win against the Alabama Challenge. “He said he loves my competitiveness and my fire on the court. He said they’re going to be on me hard, and they’re going to keep in touch.”

A Chicago native and North Carolina transplant, the Providence Day point guard had UNC Head Coach Roy Williams watching a couple of his games at the UAA Finals. Dotson says that playing at UNC would be an honor.

“It would be great,” Dotson said. “In state school, and playing for your state. I think it’s a great program, they said they’re going to be in touch.”

Multiple schools are working hard according to Dotson, with no real front runner.

“I hear from UNC, Wake Forest, N.C. State and Florida a lot,” Dotson said. “Providence, USC as well. Quite a few schools. I’d take unofficials to all of the schools that have offered me. I’d love to see the campuses, and get a feel for the schools. I’ll probably take some after July is over, and quite a few after the fall season.”

Dotson averaged 22.3 points, 6 rebounds and 4.3 assists at the UA Finals, shooting 60 percent from the field. He said that no matter what it takes for his team to get the win, he will make sure it happens, and most of the time it is getting all of his teammates involved in the offense.

“I love to see other players having success,” Dotson said. “It’s not all about me. I love to see our team have success. I think that getting everyone involved is the best way to win.”
