SPARTANBURG, S.C. — There may not have been a more important player for Mass Rivals in their championship run at the Adidas Circuit Finale than Makai Ashton-Langford.
Ashton-Langford went for 16 points and 6 rebounds in the championship win over Team Loaded VA.
“It feels great,” Ashton Langford told SNY.tv after the win. “I’m trying to set the tone in the state of Massachusetts, so that all of these guys can maybe get looks. If you have one talented player from there, maybe colleges will come farther North.”
With multiple schools recently showing interest, Ashton-Langford says there are three that have been working the hardest.
“Right now the top three schools that are showing interest are Providence, Louisville and UConn,” he said. “Those aren’t my top three schools, those are just the schools that are showing the most interest.”
Ashton-Langford doesn’t currently have any visits scheduled, but that he will most likely take visits to all three.
“I will most likely take visits there,” he said. “UConn and Providence are close to home, so those will be easier for me. Louisville, I will most likely take a visit there.”
A rising senior at Cushing Academy (MA), and coming off of a season in which the Penguins went 19-7 before losing to Vermont Academy in the playoffs, Ashton-Langford thinks that it’s going to be a big feat to win it all this upcoming season in the NEPSAC.
“It’s going to take a lot, that’s for sure,” Ashton Langford said. “There’s a ton of talented teams up there.”
