Maple Grove (MN) 2017 combo guard Brad Davison pulled the trigger on Monday when he committed to Greg Gard and the Wisconsin Badgers over Northwestern, Stanford and others.

Less than two weeks before his commitment, Davison visited the Madison campus.

“The thing about Wisconsin is I was able to meet the players, meet all the coaches face to face. I was able to meet Coach (Howard) Moore for the first time face to face,” Davison said. “I think the biggest thing for them is the familiarity. I’ve known coach (Greg) Gard since I was a freshman, I’ve known Coach (Joe) Krabbenhoft when he was at South Dakota State, ever since I was a freshman, so I have a really strong relationship with both of them.”

Those connections started early, but in two separate ways.

“Summer after eighth grade I got moved up to the top (Howard) Pulley team, just for Wisconsin team camp, so that’s how that (Greg Gard relationship) started,” Davison explained. “I was actually offered by South Dakota State that summer, so that’s where I knew Coach Krabb from.”

Davison has exploded onto the scene this summer, adding multiple high-major offers and interests. The combo guard started the summer with six offers, expanding to twenty-seven before his commitment to Wisconsin.

“My team had a great spring,” he said. “We played really well, unfortunately, Tre (Jones) went down session three, so I was primarily playing shooting guard. (I played) a lot off the ball, coming off screens. So I was really working on my three-point shot, trying to be more consistent with that.”

“When he (Tre Jones) went down, I moved over to the point guard for a little bit during session three and session four,” Davison stated. “I think coaches just saw that I could do both at a high level, so that’s where it (recruiting) really picked up.”

Davison joins four-star Lakeville North (MN) four-star forward Nathan Reuvers and Central (WI) four-star shooting guard Kobe King as the third members of Wisconsin’s 2017 class.
