GARDEN GROVE, Ca. — Trevon Duval, the top point guard in the Class of 2017, says five schools are recruiting him the hardest.

The 6-foot-3 point guard out of Dallas (TX) Advanced Prep International lists Maryland, Arizona, Kansas, Baylor, and North Carolina as the schools working the hardest for his services.

“I’m not sure about any visits yet,” Duval said at the Under Armour Association stop here. “I’m not really focused on recruiting right now. I’m just taking it slowly.”

Duval visited Baylor in February with his father Trevor.

Baylor coach Scott Drew “seems like a real good coach,” Trevor told SNY.tv then. “He gives them freedom. I have to watch them a little more. He’s a player’s coach, seems like the players really respect him and like him.”

Trevor said then Kansas has maintained a strong relationship with the family via head coach Bill Self and assistant Norm Roberts.

“They’ve just been real consistent in his recruitment, Kansas has always been keeping in contact which is very important,” Trevor said.

“Sometimes schools aren’t consistent. They just contact him [Trevon]. He’s a child at the end of the day. His recruiting decision will be a family decision, so if they’re not contacting me also that’s not good. Me and his mom are going to be very involved in his recruitment, it’s going to be a family decision. So that’s important to us.”

Duval took an unofficial to Maryland last summer after the Under Armour Elite 24 Game.

“It was a good experience,” Trevor Duval said in August of his son’s visit there. “They have a friendly staff and great facilities.”

Trevor added: “They just try to compare him to Melo Trimble.”

Arizona and North Carolina, meantime, are both bluebloods with a strong tradition at the point guard position.

The 6-foot-3 WE-R1 point guard was averaging 15.9 points and 4.9 assists entering the weekend. WE-R1 has gone 1-2 on the LA circuit so far. At 8-3 overall, WE-R1 is third in the Humble division behind Team Charlotte and Earl Watson Elite.

Duval holds offers from over 30 schools, including Arizona, Maryland, Syracuse, Baylor, UConn, Rutgers, N.C. State and others. He said that he plans to commit late in his senior year.

“He’s signing late,” his father said.
