Marlon Adams, a 6-foot-6, 210-pound guard from Middletown, N.Y. and Believe Prep (S.C.), has committed to Eastern Kentucky and coach Dan McHale for the Class of 2016.

Adams also held offers from Samford and Southern Illinois.

“I decided to pick EKU because it felt like home as soon as I stepped foot on campus [May 3],” Adams told SNY.tv. I love what Coach McHale is doing with the program and I love the direction that it is moving in. I feel like myself along with the other pieces added can really make noise on the court and bring the winning culture back to EKU. Also EKU has been on me since last summer so I figured I’d repay the loyalty and commit there.

“As far as my skill set goes I will be bringing toughness, athleticism and physicality there. I’m a big guard with versatility and can guard positions 1-5. I finish well through contact, shoot the mid-range really well and I can step out and shoot the 3 ball. I can also post up smaller guards and I have no problem going out every night and defending the opposing team’s best player and doing the little things to get the W.”

Eastern Kentucky now has eight new players for the upcoming season.

DeAndre Dishman, a 6-6 forward out of Bryan Station High School in Lexington, signed on May 5. He was the third Lexington native to sign with EKU this offseason, joining Butler transfer Jackson Davis (Lafayette) and Louisville transfer Dillon Avare (Lexington Catholic). Junior-college transfers Zach Charles (Mesquite, Texas) and Darryl Baker (Jeffersonville, Indiana) and incoming freshmen guards Asante Gist (West Orange, New Jersey) and Parker Chitty (Columbus, Indiana) round out EKU’s 2016 class.
