Point guard Dennis Smith Jr. enrolled early at North Carolina State for the spring semester after he graduated from high school early, according to the News & Observer.

“It’s a dream come true to for me, having grown up an N.C. State fan,” Smith told the News & Observer. “For the way they recruited me, I was happy to show loyalty and commit. I’m excited to be a part of the program.”

At 6-foot-2, 185 pounds, Smith is the projected No. 5 pick in 2017 by DraftExpress.com. He graduated in December from Trinity Christian in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Smith underwent surgery in August after he tore his ACL in an AAU game and told the News & Observer he could be at full speed by February.
