4_3720997Javin DeLaurier, a 6-foot-9 forward from Charlottesville (VA) St. Anne’s-Belfield School, committed to Duke on Sunday.

Over the summer he was considering schools like Princeton, Texas, North Carolina and Louisville, but when he added a Duke offer many expected he would land there. DeLaurier is the No. 12 power forward in the Class of 2016 according to 247Sports.com.

As for his skill set, “Right now coaches are talking about using me as a stretch four early and then as my skill development catches up with my athleticism, using me as a three,” he said in July.

DeLaurier joins small forward Jayson Tatum, the projected No. 2 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft by DraftExpress.com, and point guard Frank Jackson in Duke’s 2016 class.
