4_2918374Former VCU commit Kenny Williams III committed to North Carolina on Saturday.

The 6-foot-3 shooting guard from Chesterfield (VA) Lloyd C. Bird picked the Tar Heels over Virginia.

“It’s been his lifelong dream. He’s always wanted to be a Tar Heel,” his father, Kenny Williams II, told North Carolina’s Scout site. “It was something that he’s always wanted to do. It was a goal he’s wanted to accomplish since he was a young man.”

Williams, who averaged 19 points and 4 assists last season, had previously considered Florida and Michigan, but cut both from his list.

“He’s a lights-out shooter that can put the ball on the floor,” Boo Williams coach Ken Chisholm told SNY.tv. “He can defend, he’s got good size. In our program he was one of the best shooters since J.J. Redick and Andre Dawkins.”
