BY CHIP MILLERPADUCAH, Ky. – Huntington Prep (W.V.) 2016 five-star wing Miles Bridges struggled with his offense in the Saturday night session at McCracken County Mustang Madness.
“I couldn’t get anything going offensively, but my defense, I felt I played pretty good,” Bridges said. “Malik [Newman] only scored like three points on me. He was getting points off the line and stuff and we couldn’t rebound, so that’s why we lost.”
Bridges finished the night with 7 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 blocks in 31 minutes of play while Newman went for 35 points, 14 rebounds and 2 steals in 31 minutes of play as Callaway upset Huntington Prep, 72-66.
The two [Bridges and Newman] went at it for several possessions with Newman chatting it up on the court.
“He was like, stop double-teaming me, stop double-teaming me,” Bridges stated. “So when I stopped double-teaming him, I locked him up. But he wasn’t guarding me so I was like, ‘Guard me.””
The 6-foot-7, 218-pound Bridges recently added an offer from Louisville to an already impressive list of schools looking to secure the Michigan native’s talent for the 2016 season.
“Current offers, I have Louisville, UConn, Michigan State, Michigan, Indiana, Oklahoma State, Iowa State, Iowa and Virginia,” Bridges reported.
As far as Louisville, Bridges plans on taking a visit soon and could see himself playing for the Cardinals.
“I really like Louisville,” Bridges said with a smile. “I feel like I could play there one day, but time will tell. [I plan to visit] Louisville in a few weeks. No set date right now. I’m just looking to get there.”
As far as schools, Bridges said he is open to anybody right now.
“I’m open to everybody right now,” Bridges said. “I don’t plan on cutting anytime soon.”
