Doral Moore, a 7-foot center from Montverde (FL) Academy, is off the board to Wake Forest.

“Doral has decided to end his recruitment by committing to Wake Forest University,” Montverde assistant Rae Miller said.

“He really liked Wake Forest because it is a small school,” Miller added. “He’s looking for someplace that he feels comfortable and a small setting is something that he has embraced, especially since coming here [to Montverde]. He likes [coach] Danny Manning, and made a good connection with Danny Manning as a coach. His demeanor and the kid’s demeanor kind of made a match for the kid and his family. They really have a genuine interest in helping him develop. The style of play is going to be similar to what he is now used to and he feels he has a chance to contribute to the program early in his career.”

Moore recently cut his list to five schools — Kentucky, Ohio State, Florida, Wake Forest, and Illinois, but Wake was the only official visit he took when he went this past weekend.

“He likes Danny Manning a lot and obviously as a player,” Montverde coach Kevin Boyle previously told SNY.tv. “He’s a big guy who can help him a lot.”

The four-star center joins four-star Washington D.C. Gonzaga point guard Bryant Crawford in Manning’s 2015 class.

Boyle, who has coached future pros Kyrie Irving and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, believes Moore has pro potential.

“Obviously, he’s got tremendous size and he’s a very good athlete,” Boyle said. “He’s got a fairly good skillset, but I think this is a real big year for him. I think he really needs to learn how to play. He’s talented, but this is a big year for him basketball education-wise to know when to duck in and when to screen. He can do all those things, but sometimes he doesn’t know when to do what. And he has a tendency to float on the perimeter when he’s got a dominant body inside and I think he’s gotta learn to use his size to his advantage.

“I think he’s a great upside and he has a chance to be a terrific college player and a chance to be a pro-level player.”

Moore is the second Montverde 7-footer to commit this preseason, following 7-4 Jean Marc Christ Koumadje, who pledged to Wake Forest.
