NEW YORK — Miles Bridges may be in the Class of 2016, but he certainly is not lacking a large number of high-major colleges interested in his services at this present time.

Bridges, who plays at Huntington (W.V.) Prep and is currently ranked No. 8 in ESPN’s Super 60, is a 6-6 forward who is spending this weekend in New York for the Big Strick Classic which takes place at the Gauchos Gym on Saturday with a 3:45 event start time.

The Flint, MI native rattled off a list of the schools that are heavily pursuing him right now: Michigan, Michigan State, Iowa State, Iowa, Ohio State, Indiana, UNLV, Oregon, Kansas, Kentucky, Providence, North Carolina State, Pittsburgh and West Virginia.

When asked about upcoming visits to those schools, Bridges told SNY.TV, “I have one to Oregon. I’m trying to go to Big Blue Madness at Kentucky and probably a visit to Kansas.”

“It’s just the atmosphere,” Bridges said when asked about what stands out among the schools chasing him. “All those schools I just named, they’re like big schools that will get you to the NBA. The coaches are just cool, too.”

Bridges stood out during the workout session on Friday as he displayed a consistent jump shot and also his incredible athleticism during some very entertaining dunk-offs among the rest of the elite players on the Big Strick Classic roster.

“I’m just trying to win really,” he said about what skill-set he can bring to these programs. “Just trying to win a national championship and make the team better.”

Bridges also touched upon the transition he’s undergone with former Huntington Prep coach Rob Fulford taking an assistant coaching position at Missouri this summer.

“It’s been good because me and the [new head coach] from Huntington [Arkell Bruce] are close so we got along right away so next year, it should be a good year for us,” he said.

Bridges also didn’t rule out Missouri as a possible landing spot with Fulford there now and his former teammate Montaque “Teki” Gill-Caesar committing to play there after reclassifying to the 2014 class.

“Mizzou is in there with the rest of them,” he said. “I’ll be looking at them too.”

For now, Bridges is just enjoying the atmosphere of the Big Strick Classic in New York City and looking to play well on Saturday.

“There’s a lot of history here,” Bridges said. “There’s a lot of competition here too. I plan on just making the event better.”
