Kentucky coach John Calipari called Sunday to offer a scholarship to Thon Maker, the 7-foot prospect from The Carlisle (Va.) School ranked No. 1 in the Class of 2016, his guardian, Edward Smith, told SNY.tv.

As reported here earlier, Maker is targeting January for a decision on whether or not to reclass to 2015, meaning he could ultimately land in the 2016 NBA Draft.

“I think our decision will come during the second semester of his junior year,” Smith told SNY.tv. “We will have a solid foothold on the situation by then.”

    He added: “Around January.”

Maker also holds offers from Duke, Louisville, Kansas, Missouri and Memphis, among others.
