Elijah Thomas, a 6-foot-9 power forward from Lancaster (TX) and Team Texas Elite, will announce his college choice Jan. 15, 2015 to honor his late grandmother.

“He wears No. 15 to honor his grandmother,” his mother, Deloris, told SNY.tv. “It’s something important to our family so that’s the date we’ve deciding on using.”

Ranked the No. 4 power forward in the Class of 2015 by  247 Sports, Thomas is considering Illinois, UNLV, UConn, Texas, Oklahoma State, SMU, Ohio State, Memphis,Oregon and USC.

He’s recently had home visits with Illinois, UNLV, SMU, USC and Texas, his mom said.

“As of now, we aren’t sure where we’re headed as far as officials and last minute with unofficials,” his mom said.
