Memphis capped a huge weekend by garnering honors for Shaq Goodwin and Austin Nichols on Monday.

Goodwin was named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week, while Nichols earned Rookie of the Week honors.

Goodwin was named MVP of the Old Spice Classic after he led Memphis to three wins in the tournament, including a 73-68 victory against No. 5 Oklahoma State in the championship game.

The win avenged a 101-80 beatdown at the hands of Marcus Smart and Oklahoma State 12 days earlier — and marked head coach Josh Pastner’s first-ever win over a Top 25 team after he had amassed an 0-13 record.

Goodwin averaged 14.0 points and 6.7 rebounds in the three games and shot 63 percent from the field (17 of 27). He scored 14 points with eight boards and two blocks in the win against the Cowboys and had 17 points with 10 rebounds and three blocks in an 87-60 win against Siena.

Nichols was named to the all-tournament team at the Old Spice Classic after he averaged 13.3 points and 7.3 rebounds in the Tigers’ three wins. He hit for 19 points with eight rebounds in a 76-69 semifinal win against LSU and had 12 points and nine boards in an 87-60 win against Siena.
